Recovered from a workshop long since used, this vintage two gallon petrol tin was covered in grease and oil, so much so that none of the colour could be seen.

Now degreased and cleaned this Plume motor spirt container displays beautifully as a piece of automotive history.

Introduced in 1916 by Vacuum Oil, later to become Mobile, Plume Motor Spirit was sold in these two gallon tins for use by motorists at a time when petrol stations and petrol bowsers were few and far between.
