Metal Foot Locker
I found this vintage WW2 metal foot locker discarded at the dump. It was caked in dirt and full of rubbish and I nearly overlooked it. So glad I didn’t as it is a beautiful piece of design and so well made.
I suspect it has had a life as a documents box and has been shipped from the UK to Brisbane Australia as you can just make out the markings on the sides and ends.
It was made by Uttley and Ingham and has a plate marked with the company name and a date of 1942 on the inside of the lid. It is hard to make out what the original colour was but the end result of its journey is a beautiful patina both inside and out. Would be great as a display full of collectables or just enjoyed as a rustic piece of industrial décor.
