These old wooden cones were acquired simply because they are beautiful objects and a curiousness about what they could have been used for.

The smallest is 7cm (2.75 inches) tall and the largest 10cm (4 inches) tall. The patina indicates that they are quite old and the largest is obviously not part of the set being slightly different around the base.

They are in fact plumbers wooden turnpins used to open up the end of a lead pipe for joining lengths together.

Great little objects.
