This barrel was used to send Sodium Phosphate from London to Brisbane around 1940. It was recently “cleaned out” of a shed where it had been for the last 60 odd years.

The markings on the barrel give all the clues of its travel and contents and the metal tags identify its manufacturer being Venesta limited London. The barrel stands 50cm ( 19 inches) high and is 39cm (15 inches) in diameter.

In its original finish and with its original lid the barrel has been cleaned and lightly waxed to maintain its originality and condition the wood.
