This refurbished scale now utilised as a fruit plate was discovered in a shed and had been colonised by mud wasps. Looking good now this vintage scale needed quite a bit of help to come back to life.

The original paint finish was a baked on golden colour and was in good condition for its age. The base and balance arms are cast iron and the covers are solid steel. It has a 30lb maximum weight function and came with a small selection of weights.

The “S. A. Scale Company” name is cast into the base and is a company that is out of South Africa but don’t know much more than that.

The original painted finish and all the metal items have been sealed to protect the original colour and prevent oxidisation. Great display piece.

This is what it looked like in its found condition prior to being dismantled and cleaned.
